Lucknow: A special court on February 18, 2022, sentenced 38 terrorists to death in the Ahmedabad serial blast case. 11 other convicts have been sentenced to life imprisonment. Now the Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind has come to the rescue of these terrorists. They have said that they will fight a legal battle for them in an apex court. The mastermind of this terrorist attack, Safdar Nagori, has said that he should give preference to the Quran over the constitution of the country. Nagauri has also been sentenced to death and is currently lodged in Bhopal Central Jail.

Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind national president Maulana Syed Arshad Madani has termed the special court's verdict as "unbelievable". Madani has announced to challenge this decision in the High Court. Maulana Arshad Madani is also the principal of Darul Uloom Deoband. According to the report, Madani has said that those who have been sentenced will be lobbied in the High Court by the country's top lawyers. He has said that if needed, he will also go to the Supreme Court to save them (terrorists).

According to media reports, along with the mastermind of the blast, Nagori, five other terrorists of the banned outfit SIMI are also lodged in Bhopal jail. They have been identified as Shivli, Shaduli, Amil Parvez, Qamaruddin Nagori, Hafiz and Ansab. Of these, Ansab has been sentenced to life imprisonment and another five to death. According to the report, even after the sentence was pronounced, there was no wrinkle on Nagori's face. He told jail superintendent Dinesh Nargave, "The Constitution does not matter to us, we believe in the Quran verdict.'

When PM Modi was the Chief Minister of Gujarat, there were 21 bomb blasts in Ahmedabad city on July 26, 2008, within about 70 minutes. In these blasts, 56 people lost their lives and about 200 people were injured. Ahmedabad police had registered 20 FIRs in the case, while 15 FIRs were registered separately in Surat. The terrorists who carried out the attack had themselves admitted that they had planned this attack to avenge the Godhra incident (Gujarat riots). In such a situation, what is it like if the Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind came to their rescue and did not directly support the terrorists?
