Jammu: A CRPF head constable allegedly shot himself with his service rifle in Ganderbal district in Jammu and Kashmir. The incident, which took place in Gund area of Ganderbal, is said to have taken place on Sunday morning. The self-pleasured Central Reserve Police Force jawan Devnath Yadav was part of the 118th Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force and hailed from Mirzapur in UP.

The officials said 41-year-old Devnath Yadav shot himself on duty at the Central Reserve Police Force Camp Gund this morning. Officials said Yadav succumbed to his injuries on the spot before he was admitted to the hospital. He said the body of the deceased Central Reserve Police Force jawan has been taken to the hospital for legal formalities. A police officer said an inquiry has been initiated into the matter. Police reported that it is yet to be ascertained why the soldier took such a big step.

Earlier, such information came to light from Naxal affected Gariaband district of Chhattisgarh on December 15. Where a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) officer shot himself with his service rifle. Police officials of Gariaband district had informed that Assistant Sub Inspector Udayveer Singh shot himself in the camp of 65th Battalion of Central Reserve Police Force at Darripara village under the Bindranagarh police station area of Gariaband.
