Srinagar: Vaccination is essential to prevent corona epidemic. However, people are not getting vaccinated because of many myths. A 120-year-old woman from Katias village of Tehsil Latti sub-division Drudu in Jammu and Kashmir has given an inspiration to the entire village by taking the vaccine. The old woman's name is Dholi Devi and she reached the camp held in Udhampur district administration on May 17 and took the vaccine dose.
The Indian Army has since honoured Dholi Devi. Lt Gen YK Joshi, commander of the Northern Army, met 120-year-old Dholi Devi of Katias village under Tehsil Drudu in Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir, during which the general honoured the goddess with flowers. Along with Devi, her entire family also took the first dose of corona vaccine to sensitize the villagers to prevent this epidemic. Sharing thoughts about vaccination, a member of Devi's family said, 'After getting the vaccine we feel more confident and protected, as this vaccine is the best shield against covid infection.'
The family member further said that they are very happy to have their eldest member of the family vaccinated against the corona virus. The family members also thanked the administration for setting up vaccination camps in remote areas of Jammu and Kashmir. Moreover, Devi's family members appealed to all the people of the district to come forward and get the covid vaccinated.
