Srinagar: A decision has been taken to end the detention of former Jammu and Kashmir CM and National Conference leader Omar Abdullah. On Tuesday, the state government has issued an order for the release of Omar Abdullah. Earlier, his father and former CM Farooq Abdullah was released. Omar Abdullah was taken into custody from August 5, by removing Article 370 of the Constitution from Jammu and Kashmir and dividing the state into two parts.

Public Safety Act (PSA) was also imposed on Omar. Omar was accused of instigating people through his Facebook post. In this case, Omar's sister Sara filed a petition in the apex court. This month, while hearing the plea of Omar Abdullah's sister Sara Abdullah, the apex court had asked the Jammu and Kashmir administration to tell by next week whether Omar Abdullah was being released or not? Also, the court said that if you are releasing Omar Abdullah, then release him soon or we will hear his sister's application against custody.

Sara Abdullah claimed in her petition that no posts have been made from Abdullah's official Facebook account. He said that the only material used against the person in custody is his social media posts. The post which has been believed does not exist and has been wrongly and maliciously described as Omar.
