Srinagar: The encounter between security forces and militants in Pulwama in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, which started late last night, is still continuing. In Pulwama district, 4 terrorists are estimated to be surrounded in an ongoing encounter (Rajpora Encounter) in the Hanjan Bala area of Rajpora. According to Kashmir zone police officials, a jawan has attained valor during cross firing in the encounter. The jawan was reportedly shot during the encounter but the jawan was martyred during treatment at the hospital.
A Jammu and Kashmir police official said that security forces cordoned off Hanjan Bala in the Rajpora area of Pulwama district late on Thursday night and launched a search operation after receiving information about the presence of militants. The militants then started firing, which was retaliated by the security forces. Three days ago, two militants were killed in an encounter with security forces in the Pariampora area of Jammu and Kashmir, one being Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Nadeem Abrar and the other a Pakistani national.
Jammu and Kashmir IG Vijay Kumar said that Abrar was wanted in connection with the killing of several security force personnel and civilians. The Pakistani terrorist killed with him has not been identified.
