Srinagar: Militants on Saturday shot and injured a policeman in Srinagar in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. A police official said that the injured constable has been admitted to the hospital. According to the official, "Terrorists opened fire on Jammu and Kashmir Police constable Ghulam Hassan at around 8.40 am near Aiva Bridge in Safakadal area of the city. The constable was seriously injured in the attack.''

The official said the area has been cordoned off and a search operation is underway to nab the attackers. Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Budgam district on Friday arrested two associates of Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGUH) terrorists. A police spokesman said, "Budgam police along with army and CRPF have arrested two associates of terrorists of the banned terror outfit AGUH in Huru area of Budgam in central Kashmir.''

The official said that the arrested accused have been identified as Amir Manzoor Budu, a resident of Dangerpora Rajwan and Shahid Rasool Gani, a resident of Puttarmullah Safapora in Ganderbal. The spokesman said that the disputed material, including a hand grenade and 25 cartridges of AK-47, have been recovered from their possession. He said a case is being registered and further investigation is underway.
