Jammu Kashmir's New Voting Apps: A Guide for Voters Ahead of Assembly Elections

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Electoral Officer P.K. Pole has encouraged voters to make full use of the new technological tools introduced by the Election Commission to enhance their voting experience in the upcoming assembly elections. The elections, which will take place in three phases on September 18, September 25, and October 1, will see results announced on October 4.

In a recent statement, Pole emphasized the availability of several mobile apps designed to simplify the voting process. These include cVIGIL, Know Your Candidate (KYC), Suvidha, and the Voter Helpline App. "The Election Commission has launched these apps to ensure a smooth and accessible voting experience for over 88.03 lakh voters in Jammu and Kashmir," Pole said.

The cVIGIL app allows voters to report any election violations through time-stamped photos and videos, including the auto-location of incidents. This tool is crucial for maintaining electoral integrity, as complaints filed via cVIGIL are investigated by flying squads within 100 minutes.

The KYC app provides voters with detailed information about candidates, including any criminal records and case statuses. By selecting the election type and assembly constituency or searching by the candidate’s name, voters can easily access this information to make informed decisions.

The Suvidha app streamlines the process for political parties and candidates to apply for permissions related to meetings, rallies, and other election activities. This platform is designed to facilitate a smooth campaign by providing a one-stop solution for obtaining necessary permissions.

Additionally, the Voter Helpline App offers a range of services, including checking electoral roll status, submitting online forms, tracking application status, filing complaints, and accessing contact details of election officers.

Pole urged candidates and political parties to utilize these tools to ensure a transparent and efficient electoral process.
