President implemented 'PESA law' in MP, became 7th state of the country

Shahdol: The Tribal Pride Day program started with the national anthem in Shahdol, Madhya Pradesh. Madhya Pradesh Minister Meena Singh started with a welcome address. Thereafter, a dance of the Sahariya tribe was presented. After this, by making the rules of PESA law public, the President announced its implementation in Madhya Pradesh. The manual was dedicated to the tribal community.

Madhya Pradesh is the seventh state in the country where the PESA act has been implemented. Earlier, six states (Himachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Maharashtra) enacted PESA laws. PESA Act has been more related to Madhya Pradesh. The law was enacted on the recommendation of a committee headed by Dilip Singh Bhuria, who was an MP from Jhabua in Madhya Pradesh. PESA Act came into force in the country on December 24, 1996. Rules were being made by the state governments for the implementation of this law.   

President Droupadi Murmu was accorded a grand welcome on her arrival in Jabalpur for a two-day visit to Madhya Pradesh. This is her first official visit to Madhya Pradesh after becoming the President. The President is in Lalpur, Shahdol to attend a tribal convention to mark the birth anniversary of Lord Birsa Munda. The President reached Shahdol at 1.30 pm. There she visited the exhibition of self-help groups under one district one product. During this, members of self-help groups informed her about the products of their district. The President took the information about these products very carefully. Along with this, the products of some groups were also given to them as prizes.
