Where Was Lord Krishna Born?
Shri Krishna's birthplace was a prison in Mathura during the month of Bhadrapada. In the Dwapar era, Mathura was under the rule of King Kansa, who tyrannized its inhabitants. A celestial prophecy foretold that the son of Kansa's sister, Devaki, would be his downfall.

In response to this prophecy, Kansa did not send Devaki to her in-laws' home but imprisoned both her and her husband Vasudev. In this divine sequence of events, Krishna, the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu, was born on the eighth day of the Krishna Paksha in the month of Bhadrapada. Remarkably, Krishna's divine illusion facilitated his escape from that very prison.
