Tokyo, Japan: The Tokyo metropolitan government  on Wednesday as of 6:30 p.m. local time, reported 76 new COVID-19 cases, with 398 new nationwide cases confirmed, ,

For the first time since October 16, Tokyo's daily tally surpassed 50. It increased by 36 points from the previous Wednesday. According to the metropolitan administration, the average number of new cases in a seven-day period was 44.9, up 57 percent over the previous week.

Under the criteria of the metropolitan administration, the number of very ill COVID-19 patients has decreased by one from the previous day to one.     In Tokyo, 23 additional cases were confirmed in adults in their twenties, 20 in their thirties, and 11 in their forties on Wednesday. There were 29 cases involving people in their tens or younger ages. There have been no new COVID-19-related deaths reported by the capital's authorities.

On the same day, the Osaka prefectural government confirmed 61 new infections, the highest number since November 11.
