Japan reportedly expelled a member of the Russian Consulate General

tokyo: Following the removal of Russia's diplomat from Vladivostok, the Japanese government has decided to expel one employee of the Russian Consulate General in Sapporo, according to the Kyodo news agency and the Japanese Foreign Ministry.
According to the broadcaster 47News, the Russian consulate employee is required to depart Japan before October 10.

The Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia announced last week that it had detained Motoki Tatsunori, a consul of the Japanese Consulate-General in Vladivostok, for allegedly obtaining classified information about Russia's cooperation with a nation in the Asia-Pacific region and the effects of Western sanctions on the economic situation in the Primorsky region in exchange for a financial reward.

In an FSB video, the diplomat admitted his guilt of violating Russian law. Moscow expressed a protest to Japan through diplomatic channels, and the consul was declared persona non grata. In response, Tokyo summoned the Russian ambassador to protest the decision.
