'Jauhar University may run on Boldozer...', Azam Khan approaches Supreme Court due to fear

Lucknow: Senior Samajwadi Party (SP) leader and sitting MLA Azam Khan has once again approached the Supreme Court. In fact, the SP leader has taken this step in the wake of fears of action to demolish some parts of buildings on the Jauhar University campus. Azam Khan has filed a petition in the court seeking a stay on any such action. Advocate Nizam Pasha, appearing for Azam Khan, filed the petition and appealed to the vacation bench for an early hearing. At the same time, Justice Chandrachud has said that, the petition should be placed before the Registrar for listing.

Azam Khan's plea said that as per the bail conditions fixed by the Allahabad High Court, about 13 hectares of land on the university campus has been taken over by the district administration. But it is wrong to impose such a condition at the time of bail. Due to this, the administration is now preparing to demolish two buildings of the campus. There can be an action of a bulldozer anytime. Therefore, the apex court should hear the matter soon and intervene.
Azam Khan came out of jail on May 20. He was lodged in Sitapur jail for 27 months. He has been granted interim bail by the apex court. The apex court had said that azam khan's bail conditions will be fixed by the trial court and azam will have to file a petition in a proper and competent court within two weeks for normal bail. The apex court made it clear that the interim order will remain in force till regular bail is received from the trial court. Azam Khan reached Lucknow on Monday. He was sworn in as mla  along with his son Abdullah Azam.
