Bollywood movies are struggling in theatre. Recently Big Production movies like Laal Singh Chaddha, Shamshera, and Raksha Bandhan among others failed at the box office after many social media users called for a boycott citing varied reasons. Recently famous Lyricist Javed Akhtar opened up on Boycott trends.

Speaking about the Boycott trends, Javed Akhtar said, “It is a passing phase. It is very evident that it doesn’t work. If the film is good and is appreciated by the audience, it will work. If it is not good and not appreciated by the audience, it won’t work. I don’t think this kind of announcement of cancel culture and boycott works at all.”

Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh chaddha also called for Boycott for his statement after which he said, “If I've hurt someone's heart with something so I feel sad for that, I don't want to hurt anyone. Those who don't wish to see the film, I will respect their decision. But I will wish more and more people see the film, we have made it with a lot of hard work. I'm not the only person in the film, it is made by the efforts of hundreds of people, I hope people like it."

Javed Akhtar frequently shares his opinion on different things. Recently Javed Akhtar also twitted about Bilkis Banu rape case and wrote, “Those who raped a 5 month pregnant woman after killing 7 of her family including her 3-year-old daughter were set free from the jail offered sweets and were garlanded . Don’t hide behind what about. Think !! Something is seriously going wrong with our society.”
