New Delhi: Before the Gujarat elections begin, the Congress has once again started the issue of freedom fighter Vinayak Damodar Savarkar i.e. Veer Savarkar. Political experts say that Congress has deliberately raised the Savarkar issue again so that they can get the support of the Muslim vote bank to take on the BJP in Gujarat. Because of the Hindutva ideology, the Muslim community seems to be standing against Savarkar and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and this is what the Congress is trying to cash in on. But, was Savarkar really what the Congress is telling him today?

In fact, Savarkar was also described as 'Veer' by Mahatma Gandhi himself. Not only this, but Gandhi also expressed concern over his imprisonment. Gandhiji had said, 'If India continues to sleep like this, I am afraid that these two loyal sons (Savarkar's elder brother was also in captivity) will go out of hand forever.' Gandhiji had said, "I know one Savarkar Bhai (Veer Savarkar) very well. I have had the privilege of meeting him in London." But, today, it is ironic that the Congress, which believes in Gandhi and claims to follow in his footsteps, does not listen to the Mahatma. Otherwise, the Congress would not have tried to put a layer of cowardice on Savarkar's valor even after so many years of Independence.

Along with this, it is also necessary to note that, a whole section, which fiercely creates a ruckus on the apology of Savarkar, gets curd in the mouth on the apology of Jawaharlal Nehru. First let's talk about Savarkar's apology, that why a great effort made to prove a great revolutionary like Savarkar as a coward and one who succumbed to the British? In fact, Savarkar, who was serving a sentence of double black water (50 years), had an apprehension that even before spending 50 years in the four walls of the Cellular Jail, He will die. In such a situation, his dream of doing something for the country will end in the jail itself. Therefore, as a strategy, Savarkar wrote an apology to the British for his release. However, Savarkar, by this time, had already served 10 years of rigorous imprisonment in Kalapani, where he had to grind in a crusher all day long. But, on the basis of this apology, Congress has always tried to prove Savarkar a coward.

Now talking about Nehru, let us tell you that in the year 1923, Jawaharlal Nehru was sentenced to 2 years in prison by the colonial government for illegally entering the princely state of Nabha. At that time, Nehru also got his sentence waived in just two weeks by giving an apology for never entering Nabha princely state and also came out of jail. Not only this, Jawaharlal's father Moti Lal Nehru also reached a recommendation to the then Viceroy for the release of his son. But, Congress and its supporters call Nehru's apology a bond, and Savarkar's apology is cowardice in their eyes. It is also a fact that, being a political prisoner, Nehru was never sentenced to Kalapani and used to write letters to his daughter Indira from jail, while Savarkar wrote patriotic poems on the walls of the jail with stones and recited them to other prisoners. and boosted their morale.

The Congress even ignores Indira Gandhi's letter describing Veer Savarkar as a "great son" of Mother India. On May 20, 1980, the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi mentioned Savarkar's contribution in a letter addressed to Pandit Bakhale, Secretary, Swatantryaveer Savarkar National Memorial. In this letter, Indira has written, 'I received your letter on May 8, 1980. Veer Savarkar's strong resistance against the British government is very important for our freedom movement. I congratulate you for organizing the centenary celebrations of the remarkable Son of India.'
