The prestigious biopic on the life story of Tamil Nadu ex-Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa has been announced some time ago. Manikarnika actress Kangana Ranaut is going to appear as Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalithaa in her biopic. The film is titled Thalaivi in Tamil and Jaya in Hindi. AL Vijay will direct the project and the regular shoot commences from July this year. Earlier, there were some rumors that Kangana has to gain weight to act as Jayalalithaa.

The makers are in plans to make the film in two parts so; there is no need for Kangana to gain weight for the first part. The first part starts from the childhood days of Jayalalithaa and will showcase the journey of her as an actress and will end up after she takes the oath as Chief Minister. So, Kangana will not gain any weight for the first part. But, the second part showcases Jayalalithaa’s political journey and for this, Kangana have to gain weight, filmmakers said. The first part will release early next year and Vijayendra Prasad is supervising the script work.
