Bengaluru: The Yelahanka flyover in Karnataka's capital Bengaluru is set to be inaugurated today. The BJP government in the state has decided to name the flyover in the name of Independence activist Vinayak Damodar Savarkar. Several opposition parties in the state, including JDS, are opposing the state government's decision.
JDS has tweeted targeting the state government, saying whether the BJP government did not find any great man in Karnataka that they are naming the flyover in the name of a Maharashtra man. JDS has said that if the state government has the courage, they should say that no great soul is born in Karnataka. CM BS Yeddyurappa is to inaugurate the flyover this afternoon. JDS leader HD Kumaraswamy has said that the state government should reconsider its decision and name the flyover on a freedom fighter from Karnataka.
JDS tweeted on the issue and wrote, "The state government is going to name the Yelahanka flyover as Savarkar flyover, he has no relation with Karnataka, we are opposing it, in Belgaum, we had to fight to install the statue of Karnataka freedom fighter Sangoli Rahanna."
