Bengaluru:  "No matter how many seats you give the JD(S), it cannot win more than three seats", he stated in Tumakuru on Thursday. Asserting that  the Congress is yet to take a final decision on seat sharing with the JD(S), Mr Rajanna said the party high command has been clearly told that Tumakuru was won by Congress contender Muddahanumegowda in 2014 despite the Modi wave and should not be given to the JD(S) at any cost. Till then, party workers should not pay heed to rumors, he said. Former Congress MLA K.N. Rajanna also said he will resign from politics if the Janata Dal(S) wins more than 3 seats in the up and coming Lok Sabha election of the eight it is contesting.

The former MLA additionally said that if the Tumakuru seat at long last goes to the JD(S), he would not fret challenging as an independent from the constituency.  In the event that the JD(S) was permitted to have its way, the Congress would be cleared out in the state, he warned. Claiming that sitting Congress Tumakuru MP Muddahanumegowda was the hero of Vokkaligas and this had helped the Congress hold the seat, Mr. Rajanna said allotting the seat to the JD(S) would resemble conning the Vokkaliga community.

The Congress leader also went after JD(S) supremo and former PM H.D. Deve Gowda commenting that he was ruining his reputation for the sake of promoting his grandsons in politics. “The Deve Gowda family is known for shedding tears at public functions, they won’t waver to utilize this as a tool to seek votes for Nikhil Kumaraswamy in Mandya and Prajwal Revanna in Hassan,” he added.
