Senior JDU leader KC Tyagi spoke on Thursday that if the government makes a proposal, he would like to mediate between the center and the farmers' organizations opposing the three new farmer laws. KC Tyagi's remarks came when The Indian Farmers Union leader Rakesh Tikait issued a suggestion on the name of Union Minister Rajnath Singh and Meghalaya Governor Satyapal Malik and JDU leader as mediators. The talks between the two sides were halted due to the center's refusal to repeal the agricultural laws and the 'farmers organizations' persisting with their demand.

Thousands of farmers are sitting on the borders of Delhi with a request to repeal the relevant laws. The Kisan agitation has been more than three months since it started. Tyagi, who belonged to western Uttar Pradesh, mentioned that he had worked under the leadership of late former PM Chaudhary Charan Singh and late former deputy prime minister Devi Lal who has been associated with farmers issues for decades.

He and Malik had mediated in the past between the UP government led by Mahendra Singh Tikait and Mulayam Singh. Tyagi said, "If there is any proposal from the government, I would like to play that role.''
