Patna: Senior JDU leader and Bihar CM Nitish Kumar and Union Minister R C P Singh, who is running the government in alliance with the BJP in Bihar, will now seek votes for their party in the UP assembly elections. The JDU has entered the fray in UP separately from the BJP. The JDU is likely to contest on about 50 seats. The party has also released a list of 20 assembly constituencies.

The Janata Dal United on Monday presented a list of star campaigners for the fourth phase of elections in UP. The list of star campaigners released by party general secretary Afaque Ahmed Khan on Monday includes the names of 15 persons including CM Nitish Kumar, JDU national president Lallan Singh, Union Minister RCP Singh. The list also includes the names of Bihar Ministers Ashok Choudhary, Sanjay Jha and Zama Khan.

Earlier, the names of Nitish Kumar and R C P Singh were not on the list of star campaigners of the JD(U) for the Uttar Pradesh elections, which had created confusion. A JDU leader said that most of the JDU candidates are contesting in the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh phases. In such a situation, there is a special emphasis on the election of these phases. By the way, sources say that the CM will address the virtual gathering. It is worth mentioning that the Vikassheel Insaan Party, which is part of the Bihar government, is also contesting alone in the Uttar Pradesh elections.
