Ranchi: A court in Chatra, Jharkhand has sentenced the rape accused to such a severe sentence that it could become a precedent in the upcoming cases. A court of Justice III Sujit Kumar Singh has sentenced the accused to 22 years of rigorous imprisonment in a rape case. It was even said that if the sentence amount was not deposited, the jail term would be extended by another year.
On Thursday, justice Sujit Kumar Singh's court delivered the major and harsh verdict. The case is 2 years old when a complaint was lodged with the Mahila police station on October 10, 2019. It was alleged that the convicted youth Villesh Yadav had raped a girl. A case was registered against the accused like pocso act at that time and police also started taking action at a fast pace. A total of 10 people were testified in the case and it was only after that that it was decided to pronounce the severe sentence on the convict.
The case lasted for 20 months, many people were questioned, witnesses were known in detail about the incident, only after which the court pronounced the severe sentence. The court has reportedly imposed a fine of 20,000 rupees on the accused in addition to the sentence. If this fine is not paid on time, the jail term can be extended by one year. The lawyers on both sides had laid out several facts on their behalf in the case, but the court served as justice to the victim.
