New Delhi: The oxygen crisis in the country during the second wave of corona had created a lot of havoc. Then people in big cities were wandering for oxygen, hospitals were also facing acute oxygen shortages. An oxygen audit team was formed by the apex court, whose initial report has now come out. The report questions the claim of the oxygen crisis made by Delhi's Kejriwal government then.

According to the report, when the Demand for 1200 Metric Tonnes of Oxygen was being raised by the Delhi government. Delhi then needed only 300 metric tonnes of oxygen. The report claims that about 12 states were deficient in oxygen due to the same demand from Delhi, as additional oxygen was being supplied to Delhi as per the demand being made then. According to the Oxygen Task Force, data was fixed in some hospitals between April 29 and May 10. The Delhi government had reported a requirement of 1140 MT of oxygen during this period, while the data reached 209 MT after correction.

The task force has suggested that there should be a policy for oxygen manufacturing in the country, construction should be provided around big cities so that up to 50 percent of the supply can be made from here. Delhi-Mumbai can be given priority for this.
