Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has recently given a controversial statement. Recently he has said in his statement, 'Tribals are not Hindus'. This statement was made by Soren while addressing the Harvard India Conference late night in a virtual medium. In his address, he said, 'Tribals were never Hindus, nor are they. The tribal society is puranic in nature and has different customs. For centuries, tribal society has been suppressed, sometimes indigenous, sometimes tribal and sometimes under other identities. '

He also said, 'This time census has removed the provision of others for tribal society. There is no place for tribals in the census. An attempt has been made to say about five-six religions that they have to choose one of these.' He further said, 'State Government has urged the Center that there should be a separate column for the tribal group in the forthcoming census so that they can move forward by preserving their tradition and culture. The year 2021 has been declared by the state government as the year of appointment'. The process of filling the vacant posts, including JPSC, has been started. For this, further steps are being taken by making rules.

He took a dig at the BJP ideology and said, 'Father Stan Swamy, an 89-year-old social worker has been kept in jail. A person whose memory has gone, who cannot speak properly, has been kept in jail in case of treason. '
