Hemant Soren, the Chief Minister of Jharkhand, requested quick action from the Centre to ensure the safe return of people stuck in Ukraine's conflict-torn country. The chief minister also shared a list of people from Jharkhand who are stuck in the crisis-hit country with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in a letter.

"Around 20,000 Indians, including 18,000 students, are reported to be stranded in Ukraine," the letter stated.  My office is regularly being approached by the relatives of those people from Jharkhand who are tapped in Ukraine during war times. They are terrified and panicked, and they are driven to flee to makeshift safe havens such as underground metro rail lines with inadequate supplies. In this hour of trouble, I believe we must reach out to them and make every effort to return them home." Soren asked the Home Minister to direct concerned officials in the Indian government to make the necessary arrangements to expedite the evacuation of Jharkhand students stranded in Ukraine. The letter stated, "Until such time as they could be housed in safe places with an appropriate supply of essentials." According to a state control room official, the Jharkhand government has tracked down 86 students from the state who were stuck in Ukraine until 5 p.m. on Saturday. The official stated, "We are updating the list, and a new one will be released by Sunday evening."

The state government, according to the chief minister, will reimburse all Jharkhand citizens who are stuck and returning on their own expense from the crisis-torn Ukraine.
