Ranchi: Additional Sessions Judge Uttam Anand was killed in Dhanbad, Jharkhand in broad daylight on Wednesday (July 29). Investigations revealed that he was hit by an auto-rickshaw in the morning. A video of the incident has also surfaced. Police are now investigating the case from every angle. Police said Justice Uttam Anand Randhir Verma had gone for his morning walk at Chowk when the incident took place with him. No one came to see him suffering from injuries on the road, but then Ph.D. employee Pawan Pandey saw him and rushed him to the hospital where doctors soon declared him brought dead.

According to media reports, Justice Uttam Anand was hearing Dhanbad's famous Ranjay murder case. Three days ago, he had turned down the bail of UP's shooters Abhinav Singh and Aman Singh's goons Ravi Thakur and Anand Verma. He was a resident of Hazaribagh and had come to Dhanbad from Bokaro six months ago. Since his death on Wednesday, there has been a suspicion whether it was an accident or a murder. But CCTV footage and the postmortem report that has surfaced have cleared the picture. Police have registered a case of murder in this regard. The postmortem report also found hammer marks on his head. It has also been revealed that the auto with which he was hit belongs to Sugani Devi of Pathardih. According to Sugani, his auto was stolen at night.

Dhanbad SSP Sanjeev Kumar said, "We have registered a case of murder and are investigating with all possible angles. We have recovered footage CCTV of the said incident. No arrests have been made in the case so far. The footage revealed shows a man walking on the road. But only then does an auto-rickshaw come and deliberately rotate its auto-rickshaw in the same direction as the person is walking. The car hits the person and leaves again in the middle of the road. The judge's wife Kriti Sinha has said that her husband had left home at 5 am when he did not return for a long time and everyone started looking for him. She says locals brought her husband to the hospital and he was hit by auto from behind. Legal action should be taken against that auto driver.
