Recently, the police arrested a mother and daughter from the Kishoreganj area on charges of drug peddling. Apart from this, an employee of the Civil Court was also arrested for peddling. Dr. Siddharth Sinha, Senior Consultant, Department of Neuro Psychiatry, Rinpas, said that people used to reach the de-addiction centre due to problems after consuming drugs. This number has increased manifold. There are youths of both poor and rich class in drug addiction. The poor are selling their bicycles, houses, and landed property and buying a brown sugar bag worth Rs 700. They need 3 to 4 doses daily. Patients who take intoxication through IV injection also come to him. CIP's de-addiction centre also receives 150 patients every month, while the space is only for 70 people.
