New Delhi: From today morning at 8 am the counting of votes in Jind and Ramgarh byelection will start.  The byelection was announced after the death of INLD MLA Hari Chand Middha, whose son Krishna Middha recently joined the BJP and is the saffron party's candidate for the by-election. The Congress fielded chief national spokesperson and Kaithal constituency MLA Randeep Singh Surjewala the INLD has fielded Umed Redhu to retain the seat. The JJP has banked on Digvijay Chautala, the younger son Ajay Singh Chautala, who broke away from the INLD and floated the party last December.

While In Ramgarh, the polling for the seat was nullified during December 2018 elections after the death of Bahujan Samaj Party candidate Laxman Singh.The Congress has fielded Safia Khan, the wife of former MLA Zubair Khan, BSP has Jagat Singh, son of former External Affairs Minister Natwar Singh and the BJP has fielded Sukhwant Singh.

Bahujan Samaj Party, Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party are locked in a triangular contest.As per reports After three rounds of counting, Shafia Zubair of Congress is ahead by 3,000 votes. Former union minister Natwar Singh's son Jagat Singh- a former MLA is BSP's candidate from this seat, while the ruling Congress has fielded Shafia Zubair as its candidate.

Voting for Jind Assembly by-polls in Haryana ended on Monday, with officials recording a voter turnout of over 70 per cent. A total of 21 candidates were in the fray for the seat that fell vacant.
