SHIMLA: Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the chief minister of Himachal Pradesh, announced on Tuesday that the fifth generation (5G) services of the Jio telecom network in the state and said the people would benefit from this as every third person in the state is utilising the internet services.
Chief Minister said, the expansion of 5G services will boost the digital infrastructure and open up a wide range of opportunities and enriching experiences for everyone, particularly students, businesspeople, and professionals.
The Chief Minister declared that the telecom industry has seen a "full metamorphosis," starting with landlines under the late Sukh Ram, the former Union telecom minister, then moving on to 2G and other technologies.
The state government's flagship projects, such as those in tourism, healthcare, horticulture, agriculture, and education, all stand to benefit greatly from 5G technology, said Sukhu. He also noted that the telecom industry has undergone a complete revolution, which will have a significant positive impact on the health sector.
"The government is considering putting cutting-edge technology in hospitals and all six medical schools. The most recent 5G connectivity will be beneficial for doctors' research and reference.
The government is also dedicated to making significant improvements in the education sector. In technical educational institutions, cutting-edge courses in robotics, blockchain technology, cyber security, cloud computing, data science, artificial intelligence, and machine learning will be implemented beginning with the upcoming academic year. The government has approved Rs 20 crore for this use, he said.
In order to avoid causing people any inconveniences in their daily lives, the Chief Minister requested that the corporation strengthen the 5G infrastructure to district headquarters.
A representative for Jio stated in a statement on the launch that the firm is thrilled to start Jio True 5G services in Himachal Pradesh from Shimla, Hamirpur, Nadaun, and Bilaspur.
