An award of Rs 20 lakh will be given to Jiribam district of Manipur. Chief Minister N Biren Singh made this announcement at a program on Wednesday. Jiribam district has shown its 100% participation in the vaccination program due to which Jiribam district has become the first 100% immunization district of Manipur state. The chief minister also said that "the state is prepared to face any possible third wave as the state has already improved its health care and infrastructure and increased manpower to fight the pandemic."

The vaccination drive in Manipur's Jiribam was initially launched on February 9, 2021 with healthcare and frontline workers and was later extended to 18 years. The District Health Authority has planned 431 sessions, in which 423 sessions have been held till yesterday including remote villages.

As per the Corona update 4,360 samples were tested in the state out of which only 382 were confirmed positive and the recovery rate has increased to over 95 per cent in the district which currently has only 1,156 active cases.
