NEW DELHI: Jitendra Singh, the Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology, introduced the "One Week One Lab" campaign on Friday to emphasise India's leadership in technology, innovation, and start-ups worldwide.

The 'One Week One Lab'  campaign will give each of the country's 37 CSIR (Council of Scientific and Industrial Research) Labs, which are each devoted to a unique area of research, the chance to highlight the work they are currently doing so that others can benefit from it and stakeholders can become aware of it.

The Minister said, since May 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has actively and consistently supported all scientific endeavours, and as a result, India's Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) eco-system is reaching new heights every day.

Every week, one of the 37 CSIR constituent laboratories will highlight its history, unique discoveries, and technical advancements as part of the organization's "One Week One Lab" campaign. Each CSIR lab will host events lasting a week during the campaign, such as a meet-up for businesses and start-ups, a social gathering for students, a technology showcase, etc.

The Minister emphasised that although CSIR scientists and researchers have created a wide range of technologies for society, many of them are still restricted to lab settings. He said that in order to promote technology and advance society, it is important to create effective connections between people (stakeholders, entrepreneurs, students, and industry).

The workshop and exhibition on "Innovation and Sustainable Construction Materials & Technologies" hosted by the CSIR-Central Building Research Institute (CSIR-CBRI), Roorkee, with the goal of achieving Net Zero Emission and Zero Waste, served as the campaign's official launch.
