NEW DELHI:  President Droupadi Murmu today, January 5, asked officers of Military Engineer Services (MES) to make use of state-of-art technologies including artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) in their future projects. The president said this will help in effective design and reduced time frame for construction.

Officer Trainees of the Military Engineer Services (MES) called on President Droupadi Murmu at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Thursday. The President said that the construction sector was very dynamic and the technologies were changing very fast. This sector plays a key role in economic growth and development. The President said that the Military Engineer Services officers can contribute immensely in developing infrastructure using modern tools of project management.

The President said that Officer Trainees have joined the services at a time when India has just entered into the 'Amrit Kaal' and has also assumed G20 Presidency. It is the time when the world is looking towards India for new innovations and solutions. As officers of Military Engineer Services, they would be instrumental in providing rear-line engineering support to all the defence arms, such as Army, Air Force, Navy, Coast Guard and other organisations.

The dedicated engineering support they offer to the military forces improves their general performance and maintains them ready for any situation that may arise. The President said that MES officers had a primary responsibility to protect the environment as young professionals working in the construction industry. To achieve sustainable development, she urged us to employ renewable energy more frequently.

She added that by completing numerous Solar Photovoltaic projects, the MES was making a significant contribution to lowering the country's carbon footprint.

The President claimed that by innovating, they could employ fresh building materials to shield locals from dangerous toxins. She said that being surrounded by natural materials improves human well-being generally.
