Shopian: A major incident took place on Mughal Road in Shopian district of South Kashmir today. According to reports, the incident took place when a traveller's tempo full of students went unchecked in an attempt to save a Scooty rider coming from the front. The tempo full of students in the affair was reportedly plunged into a deep trench as soon as it went unchecked.

It is also reported that the incident was so horrific that a total of 11 people, including nine girls, were killed while seven others were reported to be injured. Soon after the incident, rescue operations were carried out by locals and police and all the people were admitted to the district hospital for treatment.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Shopian Mohammed Salim Malik confirmed the death of 11 persons and informed about the injuries of seven others who were transferred to SMHS hospital. Further details of the incident are yet to be revealed. The injured are currently being provided with high level of facilities.
