On the evening of January 5, some masked people came to the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) campus and the students were beaten up. More than 20 students were injured in the violence, who are currently discharged from the hospital. Protests have been taking place in many parts of the country after this incident of students being beaten up. Many film stars even came out to protest on the streets in the Carter Road area in Mumbai after the incident at JNU. Apart from this, some stars have given a strong reaction to this whole matter on social media.

Actress Alia Bhatt has posted several posts on her Instagram Story. She wrote on Insta Story- 'Every day is disturbing. What is happening? When students, teachers and peace-loving citizens start getting physical attacks on the day, they should stop trying to show that everything is fine. We should shake our eyes with the truth.' Apart from Alia, Anil Kapoor also termed JNU violence as unfortunate. The actor while talking to the media said- 'It is very shocking and disturbing. Could not sleep all night. We are not going to get anything from violence. Those guilty of violence should be punished.' Sonam Kapoor tweeted- 'Disgusting and cowardly shocking. When you want to attack the innocent then at least show your face.'

After the violence in Jawaharlal Nehru University, no political arrest has been made by various political parties. The same opposition and JNU students accused the Delhi Police of being passive. There was a demonstration on the Gateway of India in Mumbai since Sunday night, which has now been shifted to Azad Maidan. The police had to lathi-charge after the left parties and BJP supporters came face to face in rallies in the Jadavpur area of West Bengal.
