New Delhi: The world's largest e-commerce company Amazon has decided to lay off 18,000 employees in view of the global economic slowdown and business uncertainty. Amazon has announced that it is going to lay off 18,000 employees. The process of removing people from the job in America's tech companies does not seem to stop soon.

Amazon's Chief Executive Officer Andy Jesse has reported this in a note written to his staff. Andy Jesse has written that Amazon's staff who are to be fired from work will start receiving news about this from January 18. The process of removing staff in the US tech industry has intensified for some time. Amazon's retrenched staff is more than 18,000, which is about 6 percent of the company's total 3,00,000 employees. Amazon had earlier said in November that it plans to lay off some staff to reduce its working expenses.

Amazon CEO Andy Jesse said, "We are trying to assist those affected by the layoff move. We are offering our staff a package that includes financial assistance and transitional health insurance as well as helping them find a job in another company. He wrote in this internal note that Amazon has been able to overcome the bad phase of the economy in the past and will come out of it in the future. Amazon, the world's largest e-commerce company, has a business spread across many countries of the world. Amazon has staff and offices in all cities from America to India and Europe. Amazon, however, has not yet said which countries' staff will be affected by this move.'' Amazon has said it will hold discussions with entities representing staff where necessary in Europe. We have said that most of the jobs are going to go from Amazon Store, Operation, and its People Experience and Tech team. Earlier in November, they said that they were trying to find ways to reduce costs in their annual review of business activity.
