Washington: American President Joe Biden has promoted Indian-American political advisor Gautam Raghavan to head the office of the President's personnel at the White House. The White House Presidential Personnel Office is also written as the Office of Presidential Personnel, which looks after responsibilities related to new appointments. PPO is one of the offices most responsible for assessing candidates working in the White House.
President Biden gave Raghavan the promotion on Friday. He was yet to be deputy director of PPO. In fact, United Nations (UN) General Secretary Antonio Guterres has announced the appointment of Kathy Russell as the next executive director of UNICEF. Russell was just the chief of the president's office of personnel. The place fell vacant, after which Biden entrusted Gautam Raghavan with the responsibility of this important post. Biden said in his statement, "I am happy that Gautam Raghavan worked with Kathy from day one. He will now be the new director of PPO.
Raghavan was born in India. They grew up in Seattle. He graduated from Stanford University. He has also been editor of west wingers: Stories from the Dream Checker, Change Makers, and Hope Creators Inside the Obama White House. Raghavan, 40, is gay and lives in Washington with her husband and a daughter.
