Washington: More or less 3 people died and five others seriously injured after a tornado struck a nursing home in the United States of Arkansas, authorities said.

At least 20 people were entangled inside the nursing home on Friday after the tornado hit the small town of Monette, the source quoted Craighead County Judge Marvin Day as saying to the local media. Other buildings in town also suffered damage.

According to local media reports, authorities in Monette issued a state of emergency and told residents to shelter in place, Tornado warnings were issued on Friday night for several counties across northeastern Arkansas, northwest Tennessee and southeast Missouri.

It was not immediately clear whether the damage was caused by straight-line storms or a tornado, but the National Weather Service office near St. Louis reported “radar-confirmed tornadoes” in the Edwardsville area at around the time of the collapse.
