Washington: According to a new Change Research poll, US President Joe Biden's overall disapproval rating reached a new high in December 2021, as more Americans expressed displeasure with his administration's handling of the spreading Covid-19 outbreak and the faltering economy.

According to the poll, 56 percent of the 1,895 respondents disapprove of Biden's job performance, the lowest level of disapproval of his presidency by the end of his first year in office, according to a source.

Furthermore, 60 percent of those polled said they disapprove of Biden's handling of the economy, a six-point drop from September 2021, according to the survey. According to the study, Biden's approval rating is currently at 44 percent, down from 46 percent in September 2021.

"As the Omicron variant drives a new increase in Covid cases," it said, "Washington is scrambling to assuage anxieties about price escalation and inflation, resurrect the president's Build Back Better climate-and-family legislation, and rejuvenate the country's public health response."
