India, which overtook France and Britain in terms of GDP, is proof of the success of economic freedom. This was stated by the top US lawmaker Joe Wilson in the US House of Representatives. According to the US-based think tank World Population Review in February, India has become the fifth-largest economy in the world by beating Britain and France in 2019.

Wilson said, "Last year, under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi, India has surpassed Britain and France in terms of gross domestic product (GDP). Sadly though, the Wuhan virus has stunted economic progress".

Wilson said on Friday that "India was once a socialist-minded country, but now it has transformed into a free-market country. This not only reduced poverty but it is proof of the success of economic freedom". Wilson said that the alliance between India and the United States became stronger when President Trump welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Houston on September 22 last year in the presence of more than 50,000 Indian-Americans. It was the largest reception program in American history.
