Senior journalist Vinod Dua is relieved in the treason case from the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court has stayed his arrest till 6 July. The court gave this order on a petition seeking to quash the sedition case registered on Vinod Dua and to stop the FIR.

The Supreme Court has issued a notice to the Central and Himachal Pradesh Government and has sought a detailed reply on the petition of journalist Vinod Dua. The court has given 2 weeks' time to file the reply. Supreme Court said that Himachal Police can continue the investigation of the case and can interrogate Dua, but he will be interrogated at his house and will have to give 24 hours notice before interrogation. A three-member bench headed by Justice UU Lalit, while hearing the case, refused to stay the probe and asked Dua to cooperate in the investigation. An FIR has been registered in Himachal Pradesh on Dua for disturbing communal harmony through his YouTube video.

He had demanded relief from arrest and no action in connection with the FIR registered against him. Opposing the FIR in court, Dua's lawyer said that it is unfortunate to register a case of treason for speaking in democracy. Earlier, a case was filed against Vinod Dua on the complaint of Delhi BJP spokesperson Naveen Kumar. Naveen has said in his complaint that for the past several months Vinod has been continuously working to spoil the image of India and provide political shelter to anti-social elements.
