NEW DELHI: BJP president J.P Nadda said on Saturday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led central government has done a lot for farmers with a four-fold development in the agricultural budget in the last 8 years.

The agricultural budget has increased by four times in the last eight years, said BJP president Jagat Prakash Nadda, who claimed that the national government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has done a lot for farmers.

Nadda asserted that the current government works more for farmers than any other government while addressing a crowd of people at the municipal council grounds in Paonta Sahib, Himachal Pradesh's Sirmour district.
He asserted that although the Modi government concentrated on assisting farmers in prospering, the opposition continued to focus on the farmers' struggle.

The agriculture budget has grown by a factor of four under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It has increased from just Rs. 33,000 crore in 2014 to Rs. 1,33,000 crore today," he remarked. He continued by saying that  for the nation to develop into a developed one by 2047, it must grow together.

The oldest culture in the world, Indian culture, must also be kept in mind, he said.

Earlier, Nadda paid obeisance at Paonta Sahib Gurudwara. He is also scheduled to address a public meeting at Chogan Maidan in Nahan.
