Howrah: JP Nadda, the president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), who is visiting West Bengal for three days, offered prayers at Belur Math in Howrah on Thursday.
On Tuesday evening, Nadda arrived in Kolkata. Since his arrival, the BJP chairman has held several major closed-door discussions with party leaders, according to sources.
It's worth noting that some state officials have recently defected from the BJP. Babul Supriyo, a former Union Minister, switched from the BJP to the TMC and is now a member of the state Legislative Assembly from Ballygunge.
Arjun Singh, a Lok Sabha MP from Barrackpore, recently rejoined the Trinamool Congress (TMC), citing his discontent with the way the BJP leadership was handling the party's state unit.
