Srinagar: With therelease of PDP President and former CM Mehbooba Mufti of Jammu and Kashmir, the issue of Section 370 has once again come up for discussion. Mehbooba, Omar Abdullah and Farooq Abdullah are then demanding the restoration of Section 370. His demand has now been endorsed by the Congress. Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister P Chidambaram has said that the Modi government's unconstitutional decision of August 5, 2019 should be repealed.
The BJP has strongly targeted the Congress' demand ahead of the Bihar assembly elections. BJP national president JP Nadda has said that the Congress has once again come to its divide India's trick before the elections. The Twitter war between JP Nadda and P Chidambaram has already begun on the issue. First, P Chidambaram misconstrued the removal of Section 370 and tweeted, "The mainstream regional parties of Jammu and Kashmir coming together to fight the constitutional battle to restore the rights of the people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh is a development that should be welcomed by all the people of India."
Supporting the Congress' fight for the restoration of Section 370, Chidambaram said, "The Congress is also committed to the restoration of the status and rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Arbitrary and unconstitutional decisions taken by the Modi government on August 5, 2019 should be repealed." Replying to this, Nadda wrote, "Since the Congress has no agenda for good governance to talk about, these people have come to the dirty tricks of 'Divide India' before the Bihar elections."
