LOS ANGELES:  Tory Lanez, the Canadian rapper, who is known for his track 'Say It', has been found guilty by the Jury in the Los Angeles trial for the 2020 roadside shooting of Megan Thee Stallion.

As per reports by Variety, rapper Megan Thee Stallion, real name Megan Pete, claimed that Lanez shot her in the feet after they left a Hollywood Hills party at Kylie Jenner's house in 2020. Lanez, whose legal name is Daystar Peterson, was found guilty of all three felony firearm offences.

Peterson was found guilty of carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm inside a moving vehicle, careless discharge of a firearm, and assault with a semiautomatic firearm on one felony count each.

The Canadian rapper is facing up to 22 years and eight months in prison and deportation after entering a not guilty plea in November 2020. On January 27, there will be a sentence hearing.

Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon stated in a statement, "I want to start by highlighting the bravery of Megan Pete.", reports add.

"Despite being the target of repeated, obscene attacks that you didn't deserve, you shown amazing bravery and vulnerability in your testimony. You endured unfair and vile scrutiny that no woman should ever have to endure, and you have served as an example to women in Los Angeles County and across the country." Added him: "Because they are frequently disbelieved, women, especially Black women, are scared to disclose crimes like assault and sexual violence. For the second time this month, a court case has brought to light the many ways in which our society might improve its treatment of women." The lawyer went on to say: "I also want to express my gratitude to the jury for their time and thorough deliberation, as well as to the trial team for their tenacious search for the truth. You put in numerous hours away from your families over the Christmas season to prepare this case and bring Ms Pete's case to a successful conclusion. We value the sacrifice you made." Pete sustained injuries to her feet, which she initially reported to the police as the consequence of shattered glass but later claimed were brought on by Peterson's gunfire.
When Pete underwent surgery following the altercation, the physician testified that he successfully removed bullet fragments from her foot.
