NEW DELHI: Dharmesh Sharma was sworn in as an Additional Judge on Wednesday by Chief Justice Satish Chander Sharma of the Delhi High Court, bringing the total number of judges on the court down to 48 from the authorised 60.

On Wednesday, Dharmesh Sharma took the oath of office as an additional judge in Court Room No. 1. Dharmesh Sharma, a judicial officer, was appointed by the Centre as an additional judge of the Delhi High Court on May 15, 2023.

On Twitter, Kiren Rijiju, the union's minister of law and justice, said that Dharmesh Sharma, a judicial officer, had been appointed as an additional judge for the Delhi High Court "in the exercise of the power conferred by the Constitution." I send him my very best wishes.

According to the notification that was released in this regard, "the President is pleased to appoint Dhannesh Sharma to be an Additional Judge of Delhi High Court for a period of two years, with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office, in exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 224 of the Constitution of India."

Two judicial officers were sworn in as additional judges for the Delhi High Court on May 1st, 2023. Chief Justice Satish Chander Sharma gave the oaths to judicial officers Girish Kathpalia and Manoj Jain. The Delhi High Court now has 47 judges on it after the two judges took their oaths.

The appointment of Girish Kathpalia, Dharmesh Sharma, and Manoj Jain as Additional Judges to the Delhi High Court was recently announced by the Ministry of Law and Justice.
