India's Jyoti Yaraji has also broken the national record for the second time in less than two weeks between the titles at the International Athletics Meet in Loughborough, UK. The 22-year-old from Andhra Pradesh improved her own national record of 13.23 seconds on Sunday with a time of 13.11 seconds, which she had set amidst the Cyprus International Meet in Limassol on May 10.

Jyoti, who trained under the guidance of Joseph Hillier in Bhubaneswar, has also broken Anuradha Biswal's record of 13.38 seconds, which was set in 2002. Jyoti had also clocked 13.09 seconds in the Federation Cup in Kozhikode last month but then the wind was moving faster than the permissible limit to record the time so her time was not recorded and it is not being called a national record. The wind speed was plus 2.1 meters per second, which was more than the permissible limit of plus two meters per second.

Jyoti had taken 13.03 seconds in 2020, bettering Biswal's national record at the All India Inter-University Championships at Mudbidri in Karnataka, but even then it is not being called a national record as she was not tested by the National Anti-Doping Agency in the middle of the competition and the technical representative of the Indian Athletics Federation was also not present there. Jyoti's father Suryanarayan is a private security guard while his mother Kumari does the household chores of the people.

Amlan Borgohain, another trainee at the Odisha Athletics High-Performance Centre, remains at the 5th position in the 200-meter race with a time of 21.27 seconds. Among other results, national record holder Siddhant Tingalya finished second in the 110-meter hurdles with a timing of 13.97 seconds. National-level swimmer-turned-hurdles runner Graceson Amaldas has also won the title in the junior men's 110m hurdles guest race with a time of 13.91 seconds.
