Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar's film Kalank's director Abhishek Varman's father R Varman (Ratan Varman Shetty),  has passed away at the age of 72. There are reports that he has passed away from cardiac arrest and Abhishek Varman has cremated his father at the Oshiwara crematorium.

Varman was a student of Mumbai JJ School of Art. After completing his studies, he started a Publicity Designing and Cine Advertising Company. Dev Anand Production House was one of his major clients.
