Kamala Harris' aunt expresses happiness over her victory

On November 8, Kamala Harris, who was elected Vice President in the US. Dr Sarla Gopalan, a maternal aunt living in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, said that she is very happy with her niece's victory and now hopes to be a part of her swearing-in ceremony. Senior doctor Gopalan told the media on Sunday that she could not speak to Harris on Saturday, as she was waiting for the announcement of victory all day. The senior doctor at the Voluntary Health Service said, "What do you think I am getting from her? I'm very happy with how I should feel about the victory."

She further said, "I waited until late in the night (to win) the announcement. I was tired and went to sleep at night." When asked if she will attend her niece's swearing-in ceremony in America. She said, "Hope is there." She was asked if she had gone to Varsiddhi Vinayagar temple located in Besant Nagar and prayed for Harris, Dr Gopalan said, "Usually whenever I go to Varsiddhi Vinayagar temple I break the coconut. "

She also said, "But this time I could not go to the temple because of Covid-19." She continues her talk and adds that her prayers are always with Kamala. A few years ago, on Kamala's insistence, Dr Gopalan offers 108 coconuts in the Varsiddhi Vinayagar temple. In Delhi, Harris's maternal uncle Gopalan Balachandran said on Saturday that he had told his niece a day earlier that she was going to win and would become the next Vice President of the US. Balachandran described Harris as a warrior and said he felt happy and proud.
