Bollywood film actress Kangana Ranaut has been summoned by the Peace and Harmony Committee of the Delhi Assembly. Kangana has been asked to appear before the committee by 12 noon on December 6. The committee is headed by Aam Aadmi Party MLA Raghav Chadha. The summons has been issued for objectionable remarks made on the Sikh community. Kangana Ranaut had allegedly made objectionable remarks against the Sikh community on the social media platform Instagram.

The same case was registered by the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Prabandhak Samiti in the cyber cell of Mandir Marg police station. The assembly committee says Kangana had termed the performance of farmers as a Khalistani movement in a post on social media. Kangana had used offensive and image-tarnishing language against the Sikh community. According to a complaint by the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Prabank Samiti, such posts were deliberately made to sadden the sentiments of the Sikh community. Then, they were also shared.

Kangana has been in the news for her statements for the past several months. Users had also vented their anger on social media over her objectionable remarks on Mahatma Gandhi. Making fun of Mahatma Gandhi's slogan of non-violence, Kangana had said that doing another cheek forward gives no freedom, but begging. Kangana had commented that Subhash Chandra Bose and Bhagat Singh did not get the support of Mahatma Gandhi.
