Kangana Ranaut's much-awaited film 'Emergency' has not even been released yet, but it is already surrounded by controversies. The release of the film is in trouble because the Sikh community is angry after the trailer of this film and is demanding a ban on its release.
SGPC sent notice
On Tuesday, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) sent a notice to Kangana Ranaut and the makers of the film, asking them to remove the trailer, which was released earlier this month.
Accused of hurting Sikh sentiments
SGPC secretary Pratap Singh has raised serious objections to the film. He said that letters have also been sent to the Union Information and Broadcasting Minister and the Chairman of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to ban 'Emergency'. Pratap Singh accused Kangana of hurting the sentiments of Sikhs and said that many 'anti-Sikh' scenes have been shown in the trailer of the film.
GDPC and Akal Takht also raised their voice
Last week, the GDPC and Akal Takht also demanded an immediate ban on the film. They alleged that the film tries to spread misconceptions against Sikhs and "character assassinate" them. SGPC chief Harjinder Singh Dhami also objected to the film and demanded an FIR against Kangana Ranaut. He said that earlier too, his sentiments have been hurt due to the misrepresentation of the Sikh community in films.
Akal Takht allegation
Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh also criticised the film. He alleged that the film wrongly portrays Sikhs as separatists. He said that the film insults the Sikh community and accused Kangana Ranaut of "deliberate character assassination" of Sikhs.
Release of 'Emergency'
Kangana Ranaut announced 'Emergency' in 2021. She clarified that it is a political drama, but it is not a biopic of Indira Gandhi. Kangana has played the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in the film and she has also directed this film. Along with Kangana, actors like Anupam Kher, Milind Soman, Mahima Chaudhary and Shreyas Talpade will also be seen in important roles in 'Emergency'. Late actor Satish Kaushik will also be seen in the role of former Deputy Prime Minister of India Jagjivan Ram. The film will be released in theaters on September 6.
