Lucknow: Builder Mohammad Wasi, accused of crowdfunding in the New Road violence in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur, was arrested by a team of crime branch and SIT from near Lucknow's Amausi airport late last night. Wasi was brought to Kanpur, where his interrogation is going on.

On June 3, there was stone pelting and arson on the new road, in this case, the police arrested four people, including Hayat Zafar Hashmi, and sent them to jail. Mukhtar Baba, the owner of Baba Biryani, who was funding the incident, has also been arrested and put in jail. The name of builder Mohammad Wasi was revealed in the interrogation of Mukhtar Baba and Hayat Zafar Hashmi. After which the police took an NBW against him. The crime branch and sit team had been searching for Wasi for the past 15 days. According to police sources, Mohammad Wasi cut off the absconding in Delhi. After that, he came to Lucknow. From here he was in the process of fleeing abroad, for which he had also made documents.

By interrogating the builder, the police are trying to find out how and where he provided the funds to whom and whether he had received instructions from anywhere in funding. There are also many old criminal cases associated with the name of the builder, according to police officials, all these cases will be investigated and further action will be taken under the same.
