Kapil Sibal slams Modi govt over increasing petrol diesel rates

New Delhi: Congress has once again targeted the Modi government. Congress veteran and lawyer by profession Kapil Sibal expressed surprise that when there has been an unprecedented reduction in the prices of crude oil in the international market, then the prices of petrol and diesel have been increased in the country. Which is surprising. He claimed that the central government has increased prices by 69 per cent in recent times. Due to which inflation has increased.

Kapil Sibal said that the government should take care that when the price of petrol and diesel increases, then its effect is also seen on the essential goods of the country. Due to which inflation also increases. Already the common citizen of the country is in the grip of Corona virus, after that the decision to increase the price of petrol and diesel cannot be said in the public interest at all. Sibal said that in 2014 when the price of crude oil in the international market was $ 106 per barrel, the rate of petrol in Delhi in May 2014 was 71 rupees 41 paise in the country. Even when crude oil is priced at $ 38 per barrel in the global market today, petrol is still at 75 rupees 16 paise per liter - it seems ridiculous.

Sibal called the central government anti-people and said that the Modi government is engaged in looting the public with both hands. The central government is engaged in filling the coffers with fuel. The Congress leader said that India is the largest tax collector in the development countries. Fuel prices in countries like Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal, Afghanistan are also lower than India.
